Dionysus (sometimes referred to as Bacchus) is the Greek god of fruitfulness and vegetation and is especially known as a god of wine and ecstasy. He is the son of Zeus and Semele. Dionysus had the ability to inspire and his cult had special importance for art and literature. Performances of tragedy and comedy played an important role in festivals of Dionysus. Many of the followers of Dionysus are spirits of fertility such as the satyrs and sileni.This Greek god of wine is often associated with symbols of an ivy wreath, the thyrsus, and the kantharos which is a large two handled goblet. He is the creator of the grape vine, born from the deceased body of his lover Ampelos after tragedy took his life. In mourning, Dionysus transformed Ampelos’ body into the first grape vine and created wine from those grapes.
 
This fragrance is a rich blend of fruits, wines, spices, and honey in honor of the wine created by Dionysus and of his roots towards enjoying in excess. We chose rich black cherry merlot, red sangria, and wassail as connections to his ties to wine. Mediterranean fig and saffron cedarwood were chosen to add rich, masculine and sensual notes, and spiced honey and tonka was chosen to provide extra richness and spice.
