Story Steeper - The Writer/Editor
Click. She presses the button on her electric kettle, and the machine hums to life. Bubbles dance up to the surface as the water heats. As she pulls her favorite pastel Mothman mug down from its hook, her mind wanders. Black or green tea? Spicy or fruity? Thumbing through an eclectic catalog of sachets and tins, she lets her mind wander to fairy stories and midnight tales, and which one she should write next.
 
Steam pours out of the kettle, a beep announcing that the water is boiling. She scoops a heaping spoon of spiced black tea and fills her cup with water. While it steeps, she considers honey and sugar, milk and cream; plots and structure, characters and themes. She sweetens it and gives it a stir, and then she returns to her writer's retreat, her head full of ideas and cup full of inspiration. She sinks into her well-loved chair and pets her cat's ears, waiting for words to flow and tea to cool.
Jess loves writing and editing, and she helps with many of the words you see around the Shadowflame site. This candle was inspired by her favorite kind of writing fuel, bubble milk tea. Aromas of black tea, sugar and spice, rose, and cream come together to recreate the experience of sitting at her favorite cafe, sipping some bubble tea, and letting inspiration flow from her fingertips like magic.

Alchemist - The Candlemaker/Owner
Welcome Owlets, and thank you for peeking at Alchemist! I am Damon Phelps, your humble candlemaker and owner of Shadowflame Creations. I appreciate all of the love and support we’ve received since opening our online shop, and I hope you've enjoyed the fragrance blends we’ve crafted for you!Shadowflame Creations was created with a love of fantasy, D&D, monsters, and a dash of chaos. We ensure our products are eco-friendly, bird and pet safe, carcinogen and phthalate free, and we use recycled or recyclable materials where possible. In addition, we aim to cultivate an LGBT+ safe space. I’m transgender, and fostering acceptance and openness was another priority when I dove into this venture. To this end, our candle collections spotlight a diverse cast of people and creatures, from fairy farmers who make their own prosthetics, curious cryptid creatures, and painter faeries with vitiligo who celebrate their differences through their art.
 
One day we hope to have a brick and mortar store, but for now you can find us online and at our consignment locations! We have candles at Ziggy’s Haven Parrot Sanctuary in Inverness, Florida, Conworlds Emporium in Tarpon Springs, Florida, and at Coastal Creations in Crystal River, Florida.

Alchemist is a blend of many of my favorite smells and themes. I was inspired by feelings of kinship with arcane deities and the macabre, and also by aromas of mysterious forests and smoky incense. The candle's green hue symbolizes the earth and represents a blessing of prosperity and wealth for those who bring our Alchemist candle home with them. Blessed Be, Little Owlets!The apothecary door creaks open ominously. Inside, the Alchemist toils away. He doesn't call out, but the small owl perched on his arm lets out a hoot, as if to welcome you inside. Wearing the traditional plague doctor mask, he stares down its long, hooked beak as he mixes potions for his ‘patients’. The owl lets out another hoot, and the Alchemist pauses, setting the vial down to peer up at you.

The scents in this candle were chosen to represent my journey: where it started and where I hope to be in the future. Each scent represents a different stage in life, from early childish innocence to the ever-changing and stormy future. I believe that events happen in cycles, that beginnings and endings intersect, and that hope and life are interdependent.
